Yeaaaa! We did it! I so happy!
The first two weeks were a blur; the next four weeks ended up being an emotional roller coaster; and the last two weeks became trying as well - considering that at 6 weeks babies peek at fussiness. (I guess you heard about this rumor and went with it!)
Everywhere I have read and everyone I have talked to told me that after we get through the first 8 weeks, we are in the clear! And we did it - we got through the first two months...now just wait until the tweens start. To be honest, these first few months were trying but not at all miserable. The only way I can describe it is a "joyous trial." Every moment with you, challenging or not, is a blessing.
I remember the moment they put your little screaming wiggly body on mine, and I just knew you were something special, you were apart of us. I tell you time and time again that I love you forever, and I mean every bit of it (we also tell you "we'll eat you up we love you so!" but don't worry, we don't mean that one as much. It is just a reference to a book we hope you love as a young child. Don't be scared...) You are our baby girl. This past month has been one where you have moved from newborn to baby, and I am loving every single moment of getting to know you.
Now for the top 10 list of 8 weeks...
10. How all dogs seem to love you. Pumpkin, who used to love me, now just loves you. I think she used me for you. She loves to sit on my lap while I nurse you. It's a tight squeeze and getting tighter by the week! The girls I babysit for have a large dog who used to be terrified of me, literally wouldn't even be in the same room as me, and for some reason she loves you! She sits by your pack n play while you nap...it's stumped us all! (though not me, because I know how super special you are...I think your going to be a vet!)
9. You are growing to love your toys. Most of the time when you are upset, I give you a new toy to look at and you squeal and smile. It is so funny. It's like the toys are telling you jokes I can't hear...or maybe you just think they are silly looking.
Did somebody say...TOOYYYYSSS???!!!
8. Your fake cry - your eyes don't even squint. You just yell until you see me, and then stop. Little do you know, I am experienced in crocodile tears...nice try sugar bear!
7. You kick when you play and get really excited. It is totally adorable.
6. At 7.5 weeks we didn't need to swaddle you anymore - and thank goodness because it was a fight every time, but you needed it! Now you know your arms are your own and you aren't quite as afraid of them.
5. You fell in love with the pluggy. You might still find your thumb, but the pacifier is your friend right now.
4. You found your voice - it is so cute when you talk to us, or to your toys, or to yourself...you don't discriminate
Now that I found my voice, let's chat about life, mom...
3. You learned to sleep basically through the night (for the most part, but you do have your growth spurt nights.) You go from 9pm-4:30am most nights, and it is very nice for your mama!
2. Our morning cuddles - every morning I feed you in our bed and we cuddle and talk until it is time for your nap. I love my mornings with you. Its usually your most smiley and happy time...which leads us to number 1...
1. You new found social smile - I live for them.
I didn't post this until today (you were 8 weeks yesterday) because I wanted to update you on your appointment!
Weight: 10lbs 4oz
Length: 22 in
You have moved from the 5th percentile to the 40th percentile. I personally want you to move the 95th percentile...but we are on our way! You also got your shots. I cried so hard the nurse had to calm me down and remind me that you would forget about it in 5 min, but I couldn't handle you crying so hard. You are my boo, and I love you, Roo!
"Joyous trial" is the PERFECT way to describe it. I have to remember that. I love those pics, she's so so cute.
