Daddy and Me Day

"Cool Like Dad?"  You bet I am!

Most Saturday's Danny and Ruthie have some Daddy and Me time to get one on one time, and to give momma a few hours to myself.  This is a good time for all!
This past Saturday was one of those days.  First, Danny fed Ruthie a bottle (another perk of not breastfeeding, having someone else feed feed your child isn't a pain - literally.)

After a yummy bottle and sweet potatoes, they went to Lincoln Park and Barnes and Noble, where Ruthie got to pick out her own new poem book for ni-night time.
Giving Danny and Ruthie their own time helps us to co-parent better.  We all know I can be a wee bit controlling (wait, whoa, really?!)  These times together give Danny a chance to be a dad without my two cents.  I am with her 24/7 (minus those few hours on Saturdays,) so I know what she's doing with every sound she makes, I can change her diaper with my eyes closed, I know what every spot smells like, and I can put the Moby wrap one with one arm behind my back...which says a lot, because you need both free in order to get it on right (kidding.)
When Danny is on his own, he doesn't have me there saying, "don't do that," "she's tired," "she's pooping, you'll need to change her soon," and "let me help you put that wrap on."  So, whenever he hits bumps on the road alone with her, he deals with him in his own paternal way.  (Though, to be honest, the bumps are rare and never a big deal.)  For instance, this past weekend, I received a call from Danny asking, "hey, she's in the wrap, is she supposed to be down by my belly?"  Ummmmm...no she's not, but I'd LOVE to see what that looks like!  I bet it looks hilarious.  But, he dealt with it in his own way, and doing this helps him refine his fathering skills like my days are spent surviving refining mine!  I can't wait to see how we turn out with our own strengths and weaknesses.  All parents have them (my mom did my hair, my dad put it up in a rubber band; my dad had a sense of direction, my mom ends up in nashville on the way back from Indy; my mom said no, my dad said "you're grounded!  Unless you find something to do.")
Here are some pictures of them at Lincoln Park...actually the next day when we all went and to Danny's dismay, I brought my camera.  But, be creative and imagine it is during their Daddy and Me Day!

I Love Daddy and Me Day!
