7 Month Top Ten

The stars have aligned, all of our ducks are in a row, etc etc.  Today is Ruthie's 7 month top ten list AND photo shoot Friday!  Consider it your lucky day!

I can't believe our baby girl is 7 months.  I see parents with babies that are younger than Ruthie, and it is so odd to me that they were born months after Ruthie, because they, too, look old to me.  Isn't she still supposed to be a new baby?  I remember seeing parents with a 6 or 7 month old and thinking to myself, "well, it's old news to them now, they have it all together."  Ummm...so either I am a slow parental learner, or that thought was totally wrong.  I still feel like a new mommy.  I think to myself, "maybe when we have another baby, I'll feel like a pro."  But, probably not.  Maybe when I'm a grandma...

I do know this, I say it every month, but 7 months is SUCH a fun age.  I wonder when I am going to think, I liked it better when she was younger.  I do find myself missing my little newborn nursling, with her little hands up by her face and her legs curled up into her tummy, but I didn't love that stage any more than this one.  In fact, I would have to say that this stage is definitely more fun.  A child with a sense of humor, that laughs, giggles, and says "mamamama."  A child who wants to do it herself, who wants to get to things herself, but can't...seem...to...crawl.  I even enjoy her little temper tantrums.  I told her last night, "you need to make your tantrums ugly, because your tantrums are so cute, I don't mind you having them, so you'll never get your way with those."

I just know that as she gets older, she brings the Lord's blessings into this house more and more.  I find myself looking at her, and just praising God for taking us out of the depths of misery to where we are today.  When my faith is in doubt, all I need to do is look at our little family.  He took me from dying to fully alive.  It brings to life the scripture Psalm 103:12 - as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

7 Month Top Ten

10. You stopped nursing.  I had to put this on here, but if you notice, it is number ten, not one.  This is because I wasn't ready, in the least.  I admit that I was frustrated with nursing, but only because you wouldn't nurse.  I never was ready.  I wanted to go a full year, but it goes to show you that you are a separate person than me.  You went 6 months and 4 weeks, so we are just going to say you went 7 months.  You have your own plans.  Little booger.
9. If you have a bow to match, you wear a bow IN YOUR HAIR.  You don't have tons (just yet, but I'm afraid between my horse hair - or as Danny calls it, "llama hair," and your daddy's thick hair, it will be a genetic miracle if we don't have to use lots of detangler and conditioner on you in the future.)
8. You can feed yourself little puffs.  You use your little pinchers and pick them up!  You haven't mastered it.  I could probably count the number of times you have succeeded on one hand, but you CAN do it!
7. You love your lovies.  You are your mama's girl.  I had Jellybean, and you are a lovey girl as well.
6.You are sitting up by yourself!  I plop you down and let you play.  Every once in awhile, you get excited or you get started and do a little bum hop, and that sometimes that makes you topple.  But, usually you are on carpet or a rug and it doesn't hurt.  Another thing you do is want something in front of you as you are sitting, and you lunge for it.  I don't mind this, it is a first step of crawling.
5. You sit with us during dinner!  Even if you are napping as we sit down, you somehow know dinner is here, and wake up.  You always get tastes of our food, and you love food!  You also sit in a high chair with us when we go out to eat.  Such a big girl!
4. No more baby tub!  You sit up in the tub by yourself.  You think you are such a big girl!  With this new milestone came another one - you now play with bath toys.  This does mean that it is a fight to get you to let go of the toys so you can go read stories with Daddy.  And again, fits are thrown.
3. You got your first tooth (more like teeth!)  4 came in at one time.
Here are your top teeth
2. You get around!  Not by crawling (though you are trying,) but by rolling.  You get to where you need to go, but it doesn't feel so good when you are wanting to get around on the wood floor.
1. Mamamamama.  The experts say that you don't know what it means, but you now look at me and say "mamamamama."  So, even if you don't know that is my name, I'm pretty certain you know that if I hear that, you get what you want.

Happy 7 months, baby girl, you are growing up so fast.  It is like going on vacation, and it passing by so quickly.  Before I know it, you will be going to school.

Photo Shoot Friday!
