Happy Pumpkin Day, everyone...and no, this is NOT a day to honor our dog (though it could be, if you wanted it to...send treats and money to her owner. Also, she loves twix. Crazy, I know.) I grew up with a mother who called it "Pumpkin Day" to make it seem a little less scary...and evil. So, it has stuck in my world.
Remember my little Pumpkin Piggy last year?
Or my personal favorite of that day:
This year we got to actually ask her what she wanted to be (more like, "what's your favorite animal," but it was still against my will...I was up for a chenille poodle outfit decked with bows. I was also vetoed.)
She said "El-fant" and we gave it to her. Notice the bow: Mommy's small victory
Mimi was in town this past week, and instead of trick or treating, we got to go to the zoo with Mimi and some of the best people in Seattle ('s surrounding area,) Lily and company!Despite a cold, we had a great time.We love this family.
If you ask Ruthie, "LLLILY" is a "SHEEEEEP." More like a cow, but cute, nontheless
Notice the tight hold of the candy in both their hands...
What you don't notice from these pictures is that all the trick or treat stations (except one) gave out health food. Nothing says Halloween like string cheese, fruit leather, and soy protein. Don't worry, the dental tent came through! (As did Mimi, bringing her own stash of candy!) Halfway through the zoo, the ears had to come off, and she morphed from an "el-fant," to "what's that girl in the grey outfit with a hat supposed to be?"
Mimi! I YOU!
To make sure we got optimal use out of the outfit, we also had a mini photo shoot/walk around the neighborhood. Pumpkin was invited for 2.5 seconds before her anxiety and lack of coordination kicked in, and she was sent home. Enjoy the photos
See? Pumpkin made it...
Because elephants LOVE dandelions - surprised you didn't know that, mom
I'm thirsty...these work for the elephants at the zoo...my trunk is defective...
El-fant...NAILED IT!
Now, for your Pumpkin Day viewing pleasure, please enjoy the movie. Produced and directed by Danny*
*I would like to note that this song was also covered by *NSYNC...their European debut CD in 1998. Whoever knew that gets 10 points in my friend book.
Awesome hair, all of you, especially you, Chris. Still waiting on you getting back together. You promised...
OMG! What a darling post! Lily (the sheeeep) had a great time! As did I. Until biting and Hitchcocks re-enactment of the Crows began (Okay, slight exaggeration there).
