It's funny because when I first saw Liv, it was hard to feel like I was meeting this girl for the first time. It felt like I had known her her entire life. It wasn't as though I had this new wave of love for her now that I saw her because it was already there. We switched children assuming they would feel the same sense of comfort we felt. If you know my daughter, you know that I get paged frequently from the nursery, she studies new people before wanting to be held by them, and if not given the chance to study the little lip goes out and tears follow. She.does.not.like.strangers...unless being held by mommy or daddy while meeting them. (ESPECIALLY when tired from flying all day.) But, it was as if she knew Kristi already. She didn't even flinch. Our days were spent as normal days, mothering next to each other. It makes me want to cry (again) thinking about the fact that we live a country apart. I would love to be able to just go over to her house, or vice versa, anytime I wanted just to have a little play date, for mommies and babies...daily.
Not only did being with Kristi and Liv feel like home, but the SOUTH felt like home. My bowed-out child fit in! She owned something of almost every line of clothing in the boutiques we visited (thanks to Nana's new found hobby of shopping for Ruthie!)
And maybe conversations of southern mothers don't revolve around politics and giving granola for Halloween?
The people were so friendly (we even had someone walk us to our car after church,) and everyone had southern accent - which I love, and miss (even though Evansville is more of a "river" accent, but it is still an accent picked up south of the Mason-Dixie line.)
Regardless, my favorite part wasn't falling in love (again) with the south, it was being with a best friend, and her family.

Where's Ruthie?

And this was the picture after that forbidden word was spoken...I'm pretty sure all were offended...even Duff.
Bath time!
This was Ruthie the whole weekend. Looking at what Liv was doing, and trying to learn it.
Cupie dolls!

I already miss them all, and loved the time we spent together. Hopefully, in the future, this can occur more frequently? That's my hope, at least.
